DESCRIPTION: EPW - Barraud & Lunds, 49 Cornhill, London, keyless lever fusee, 46mm, heavy 18K gold OF original case bearing London hallmarks for 1889, "J W" marking in oval cameo for casemaker Joseph Walton, fancy monogram initials to rear, gold cuvette engraved "A.G. Reid from his subordinates in Public Works Egypt 1890," white enamel SS dial, SW-pin-set with retained KWKS arbors, button on case band at 1 must be depressed and held to engage winding with crown turned in reverse direction, lever escapement, 13J, white metal hairspring, gilt mvt, s#3/3949 with matching serial number to dial and within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 65.5 dwt (101.8 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some haze to gilt surfaces, some ultra-fine scratch striations likely from past light wiping; dial with hls between 3 and 4 and a tiny associated pinpoint surface nick near 3; nearly mint hour and minute hands, fine seconds-hand with abrasion and finish loss at and near its hub; case shows very light wear, small ding to rear within lower-left perimeter of initials, ding to band at 10, mild ding to band at 4:30, few small nicks elsewhere, good engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
